Renewing insurance
About six weeks before your insurance expires, we mail you a reminder to renew it. You can renew your insurance at any Autoplan broker.
Important: Be sure to renew your insurance before it expires. Otherwise, you won't be covered if you're in a crash after the expiry date.
What do I need to bring?
To renew your insurance, you need to bring your
- driver's licence
- insurance and vehicle registration documents
- renewal-reminder notice, and
- payment (for example, cheque, cash, debit card, American Express, Visa or MasterCard).
Cancelling insurance
You can cancel your insurance at any Autoplan broker.
What to I need to bring?
To cancel, you need to bring your
- licence plates, and
- insurance and vehicle registration.
When you cancel, any scheduled payments will be stopped. You may have to pay a cancellation fee or you may qualify for a partial refund.
Leased vehicles
Before the insurance on a leased vehicle can be cancelled, you need to get the leasing company's permission. For details, contact your leasing company.

Payment plans
You can spread out the cost of your insurance over the year with an easy monthly or quarterly payment plan.
For a payment plan to be set up, you need a Canadian bank account that allows automatic witdrawals.
How to apply
To set up a payment plan, go to any Autoplan broker with
- your insurance renewal reminder, and
- a void cheque (if you have a chequing account), or
- a bank statement (if you have a savings account).
The enrolment fee is $15.

AirCare
Do you live in the Lower Mainland or Fraser Valley? If so, before you can buy or renew insurance, your vehicle may have to pass an AirCare emissions test.
